The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) has officially come to life for another year, with more than 45,000 people expected to feast on world and national launches, ground-breaking marine technology and non-stop entertainment across the next four days.
The annual event, which is now in its 31st year, has this morning welcomed the first wave of visitors that will descend on the iconic Gold Coast resort community for a boating festival that has grown to be one of the marine industry’s marquee showcases.
More than 300 exhibitors will display their latest vessels and products at the event, which runs until Sunday and features more than 500 boats on land and water.
And while boat lovers can spend hours exploring the vast array of marine vessels and equipment, an equally compelling line-up of live music, vibrant bars, street entertainers and family-friendly activities ensures everyone is catered for.
“SCIBS is a highlight of the social calendar as much as it is a boat show and we’re looking forward to seeing the precinct buzzing yet again over the next few days,” said SCIBS General Manager Johan Hasser.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to buy a boat , visit the pavilions, socialise with friends or have a day out with your children, you will find plenty to see and do.
“Our free Park ‘N’ Ride service from Warner Bros’ Movie World, with car parking and air-conditioned shuttle buses, also means they have a stress-free mode of transport to get to SCIBS in 2019.”
Marine industry giants Maritimo, Riviera, Princess and Horizon will all unveil their latest creations at SCIBS 2019, with other exhibitors including Whitehaven, Integrity Motor Yachts, Alexander Marine, Multihull Solutions, Jeanneau, Leigh-Smith Yachts, Queensland Marine Centre and Quintrex and many more.
Long-time sponsor and renowned British car manufacturer Bentley will display its latest, luxurious range of motor vehicles, including the all-new Continental GT Convertible, as well as celebrating the brand’s 100th birthday.
The ‘Sports, Leisure and Fishing Boat’ precinct will also feature 20,000sqm of outdoor space dedicated entirely to trailerable craft and a huge array of the industry’s latest gear and gadgets.
On the social front, the VIP Lounge presented by InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, will be hugely popular with marine industry powerbrokers, VIPs and guests.
Paul Burt’s live cooking demonstrations are also expected to attract large crowds, while the boating and fishing identity will film an edition of his new Step Outside program in front of a live audience at the Main Stage.
“SCIBS has a proud history but the future looks just as bright if today’s crowds are anything to go by,” Mr Hasser said.
“Our loyal exhibitors and marine industry leaders are looking forward to a long weekend of networking and doing business, our visitors are excited by the huge range of displays and activities on offer and, of course, we’re simply pleased to be able to host them all.
“It’s going to be four massive days of boating on the Gold Coast.”
SCIBS 2019 coincides with the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference, while the SCIBS Industry Trade Breakfast also returns for another year.
Considered one of the most important B2B events on the Australian boating calendar, SCIBS is endorsed by Tourism & Events Queensland and a member of the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers.
